BANNER: National Workplace Napping Day | National Napping Day (#NationalWorkplaceNappingDay) (#NationalNappingDay)

It's a much appreciated day because we could all use some extra Z's after turning our clocks ahead one hour for the beginning of Daylight Savings Time!!!..

This day was created thanks to Boston University Professor William Anthony, author of the book The Art of Napping, who says that the first Sunday of daylight savings time, should be celebrated as “National Nap Day.”

The day was originally celebrated on the first Sunday of daylight savings time and was known as National Nap Day, but that eventually changed to the Monday after it, taking on another name in the process - National Workplace Napping Day.

BANNER: A ROOM OF ONE'S OWN | January 25 (#ARoomOfOnesOwn)

This copyrighted holiday created by Thomas and Ruth Roy of Wellcat Holidays describes the day as, "for anyone who knows or longs for the sheer bliss or rightness of having a private place, no matter how humble, to call one’s own." That would fit just about everyone we'd say!

Others say the day was inspired by Virginia Woolf’s 1928 extended essay, "A Room of One’s Own". The title of the essay comes from Woolf's conception that, "a woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction".

But whatever the reasons, we're glad this day was created because we all need to celebrate a room of our own just to unwind, think and allow our thoughts to grow in a positive way.

BANNER: International SWEATPANTS Day | January

Not enough credit is given to those comfy sweatpants we all love to wear but often take for granted.

International Sweatpants Day is observed the closest weekday to January 21st. In 2018, it is therefore observed on Monday, January 22, 2018.

The first pair of sweatpants was introduced in the 1920s by Émile Camuset, the founder of Le Coq Sportif and were made of knitted material that were gray in colour. The pants, to this day, allows athletes to stretch and run comfortably. Of course, companies like Nike have made considerable efforts into making them more attractive while still keeping them comfortable as the original ones.

BANNER: Houseplant Appreciation Day | January 10

After the Christmas tree is put away for another year, we still need some greenery to lift our spirits and what better way to do so than with houseplants. Not only do they provide some greenery during the drab winter months, but they purify the air!

Houseplant Appreciation Day was created by The Gardner's Network to remind us to give our houseplants a little attention and to encourage us to grow and keep houseplants, especially in the winter months.
